What does "gotcha" mean?
In the case I mentioned closer to being a bug; it can also mean Diamond doing something clever that you don't expect, in a way that (unless you you how it could be useful) makes it seem like Diamond is doing something wrong ("It's not a Bug, it's a Feature!" etc.).
In the case I cited, it's a bug.
A little gotcha: underneath the window, on the left, I can see 2 numbers. In that case 4 27. The number of words + number of characters. Nice! But, IMHO, this should be more conspicuous, as I've just noticed this feature. Just my 2 cents (in euros, of course).
I can change the size (and the size of the window title to the right); they are rather small; what do you all think?
That sounds like a good idea!
By the way, I don't understand how you can modify the color in which the number of characters and the title of the doc is displayed.
That would be the "Subtitle Color".
Where is “Subtitle Color” in the prefs?
It's the last color well on the left side; compare the screenshot of prefs in the gallery; the 10.4 Tiger build has the same layout but because Tiger doesn't have the transparent HUD-type of window it is more difficult to read the captions on the prefs panel.
More difficult to read? I can't read a thing :(
Since there are more than a couple Tiger users, I'll see if I can install a different window in that build. For now, please use the Gallery image as a reference.
The “New End Note” option is a great idea! I just wanted to say that :)
I am puzzled by the "Window/Size & Position/Set the Default" as selecting this after arranging the window how I want it does not seem to have any effect on new windows opened. Not working or am I just not understanding it? Using a MacBook Air with OS 10.5.5 and Diamond 3.4.
Thanks,
Richard
Hi Richard; it may be that you have something set for "Untitled", "Untitled2", etc as a Setting by Window Name. I'm working on an "Unset" or Clear command for settings; in the meantime removing the Preferences file should clear it if this is a case (just move it out of the Preferences folder to the desktop and relaunch Diamond -- that way you can reinstall the old prefs again if this isn't the cause of the problem).

Let's discuss some glitches, workarounds, and nifty things you can do with Diamond's idiosyncrasies. Here's a gotcha, on using the Color Wheel when setting color: if the cursor is active in a window when you are choosing a color for one of the Preferences, it may also apply that color to the active text in that window. Until I handle this bug, a workaround would be to open a new blank window temporarily while you are setting the Preference, and then disposing of it.
